and it makes me depressed that people actually enjoy television shows like this. why are we so obsessed with other people’s lives? especially people as annoying, conceited, and trashy as the ones on jersey shore. sure, it’s funny to laugh at their stupidity and their ridiculous antics, but in all honesty, i think it’s kind of sad. the show is an hour long. you could be doing so many things in an hour. i will not, ever, for the life of me, understand why people can watch shows like this or the real housewives of california/atlanta/new york, etc. let’s all continue to make the shittiest people in america even richer than they already are by supporting their horrible television programs.

Ok, maybe this just speaks to me right now because I’ve been in a particularly shitty mood all day, but it sums up a lot of the frustrations (and the overall sense of helplessness) I’ve had for a while now.  And I got really emotional for some reason when I got to the last photo of the guys on the roof in New Orleans.  “The water is rising pleas” seems like a good way to sum up the last decade.

while I don’t 100% agree with everything on here, I still think this is a good read. i especially like this, “The equation is leaps in technology = falls in culture.”

a lot of people don’t realize that this decade is ending, which, believe it or not, is a pretty big deal. this decade has been a total downer when it comes to this country, and even this planet. let’s get some positive thinking going and create a little forward momentum.
